Last year, little one and I had the opportunity to visit Switzerland's booth during an International Festival. We received a flag, travel brochures, and a map of Switzerland. Going through our continent boxes I realized we haven't explored more on Switzerland.
Eager to learn more I organized a small group of little one's friends to discover Switzerland! Unfortunately, little man was sick and we didn't have his friends over. Instead of his friends painting, he had me painting with him. :)

My child is constantly challenging himself when it comes to reading. He's above his reading level in English, and his newest reading obsession are chapter books. First it was Henry and Mudge, and now it's the Magic Tree House series.
In my hearts of hearts I want him to reach that same level in Spanish, too! However, as a mother raising a bilingual and biliterate child I need to keep it at his pace. So to peak his interest in venturing into reading Spanish chapter books I've compiled a list for him.

For the past few years I've been hosting book swaps for my son and his friends. It's an inexpensive way for us to find new books to add to our home library. Nevertheless, the books are in the community language.
We sent them a French/English Dr. Seuss bilingual book with a short note from little one; and she and her son sent us a children's book in Spanish with a sweet note.
Take a look at your friends and family living in another state or country and swap books with them. If you don't ask, you'll never know!
Please note that this is not to be confused with a children's book exchange type of chain/pyramid that I've seen circulating on social media.
Happy book swapping!

Through the past years we have received worldwide culture swaps from families from England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, and from our subscription to Little Passport.
Although, we did go over all the fun stuff that we received it was boxed away. Now it's waiting to be explored and played with again. So I had a few of little one's friends visit and we traveled to United Kingdom.

We've all heard of the proven benefits of speaking a second language, and that high proficiency can be acquired in an immersion setting but that's not always possible. Especially when the second language is the minority one.
As a parent raising a bilingual child what to do?

Today will be 3 months since the passing of my sweet father-in-law. A man who loved his family unconditionally and adored his only grandson, our son.

One of the highlights of our past trip to Puerto Rico was actually taking the time to enjoy our surroundings. Normally, when we are on vacation we're on such a time constraint, and rushing through everything.
In one of our outings, and while looking for a playground for little one in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico we came across these beautiful murals.
Barceloneta is located in the north region, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Florida, east of Arecibo, and west of Manatí.
The murals are located on Carretera 681 in Barceloneta, right across the Teatro Ernesto Ramos Antonini.
