Good Night Captain Mama {Buenas Noches Capitán Mamá}

I am so thrilled to be reviewing the first bilingual children's story book from a Latina Military Aviator Mom. This book is a first in it's kind. I was lucky enough to win a teacher pack on Mommy Maestra's back to school giveaway.

The story is about a little boy who is intrigued and fascinated to see his Mamá in her military uniform. He begins to ask her questions about her patches, and the conversations flows so naturally. Mamá goes on to explain what she does in the military, and explains the symbols of each patch.

I love how this story portrays the love of a  mother to her children, and her passion to her career serving in the U.S. Air Force. I read this book to my 5 yr.old, and he was fascinated.  We also discussed how the people who are in the armed forces are mommies, daddies, sisters, brothers, etc. and how they protect our country. We talked about the recent holiday of Veteran's day as well, and finally he made his own personal patch!  You can find this template in the back of the book. :)

The books that I received in the pack have been gifted to my son's Spanish language immersion classmates. They were absolutely thrilled since it's almost Christmas!  I wrapped them up and put a colorful bow on each one.  Little man was so excited handing them out.  I have also donated books to my son's elementary school library, and our town's public library.

This book is not only great for military family it is also helpful in explaining to children that women too serve in the military.  What I love the most is that the book is bilingual in both Spanish and English, and written by a Latina Mamá! This book is an excellent addition to our bilingual home library.
